    WORSHIP MINISTRY

  • Worship at Spring Lake Church

Worship is not a once-a-week, optional activity. Instead, worshiping God is the aim of all we do, say, and think as individuals and as a church. It is our privilege and honor to pour out our life’s efforts and events which culminate in an offering of praise and worship to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

  • Worship at Spring Lake Church

    broken image

    Gospel-Centered Worship

We exist to glorify our great God by leading our church family in authentic, passionate, gospel-saturated, vertical worship of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We aim to help usher the disciples of our church body into a deeper, more personal relationship with our God by seeking after the Lord fervently and giving Him all the praise and adoration that He alone deserves. We use a variety of methods to advance a consistent message of hope in Jesus Christ and belief that God is alive and on the move in and through us.

    broken image

    Our Music

Our aim with our music is to ascribe worth to our great God and lead our people into His presence in corporate worship. We do this by seeking to play music that is a perfect combination of spirit and truth…just like God calls us to in John 4:24. We will continue to write and lead songs that are about God, for God and to God. We sing songs that are scripture-based, encouraging, challenging, fresh and help paint a clearer picture of who God is and what He has done for us.

    broken image

    Our Hope & Prayer

We want to be a church that reflects the heart of God and seeks to honor and glorify Him above all else. We hope and pray that God would use us to create an atmosphere of worship where people can freely praise and adore their Creator without shame, reservation or fear. We desire to make much of Jesus Christ in all that we do…starting with a powerful worship experience with our church family each and every Sunday in the hope that it will overflow into every area of our lives.

  • Counseling Information

We live in a broken world. That brokenness is evident in the heartaches and hurts of offenses done against us as well as our own offenses that we've committed against others. We may find ourselves in our own prison, wondering if we will ever experience true freedom. The good news is that into our broken world, God sent a Savior to bring hope in the midst of the brokenness around us. Through Jesus, there is grace, forgiveness, restoration, and freedom.

If you or someone you know is currently struggling and in need of help, there is help available through our Biblical Counseling Ministry. Our counseling is for anyone 13 and older and currently we offer biblical counseling to members and regular attenders of Spring Lake Church.

Your first step is to fill out the paperwork: the Personal Data Inventory (PDI) and the Consent Form.

    Before Service Begins

Check in Children (If you have any)

Our weekend Children's Ministry takes place during all weekend services and is designed for children nursery to 4th grade. The staff and volunteers create a safe, fun atmosphere where children can learn the Bible and participate in age-appropriate worship. If you are new at Spring Lake Church check in your child(ren) at the check in stations, where our staff or volunteers will help you. As you check in, you will receive a name tag for your child(ren), as well as a family claim sticker. That family claim sticker matches the number on your child’s name tag. You’ll need it at pick up to ensure security for your child.

Grab some free coffee or tea and settle in.

When you arrive someone will welcome you to our campus and one of our ushers will give you a program, which includes sermon notes and helpful information to help you get to know us better. You can sit wherever you're comfortable and if you ever need help finding a seat, an usher would be more than happy to help you!

    During Worship Service

    Worship Music

Singing together is a way for Christ followers to unify our hearts, minds, and voices in an expression of praise to a worthy God. Music provides direction for our singing and participation is encouraged. Feel free to join us as we sing in worship to God.

    Tithes and Offerings

Each week Spring Lake Church receives an offering. If you are a guest with us, please do not feel any pressure to give. This is an act of worship for those who consider Spring Lake Church their church home. Tithes and offerings enable our church to bring the gospel of Christ to the world.

    The Message

Every weekend you'll hear a message that is rooted in the Bible and designed to speak truth into your life. We trust that these messages will help you develop a growing and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ.

    Communion

Once a month we receive Communion together during our worship service. Anyone who has placed their faith in Christ for salvation is invited to participate. The bread and juice represent Jesus’ broken body and shed blood sacrificed that our sins might be forgiven.

    Biblical Counseling

We live in a broken world. That brokenness is evident in the heartaches and hurts of offenses done against us as well as our own offenses that we've committed against others. We may find ourselves in our prison, wondering if we will ever experience true freedom. The good news is that into our broken world, God sent a Savior to bring hope in the midst of the brokenness around us. Through Jesus, there is grace, forgiveness, restoration, and freedom.

  • Discipleship Toolbox

As a church we have three key components to our mission: loving God, maturing in His character, and reaching the world for Christ. These three components are the heart of who we are and the framework for discipleship. Whether through the sermon based study guides or the listed curriculum in our toolbox, our aim is to help one another grow into fully committed followers of Jesus. The Discipleship Framework provides a healthy balance of various studies meant to give a Biblical Foundation (Love), Practical Application (Mature), and Faithful Multiplication (Reach). Untangling Emotions: God's Gift of Emotions

    by J. Alasdair & Winston T. Smith

    Handling Emotions / Anger / Fear / Grief / Shame / Guilt

How do you feel about how you feel? Our emotions are complex. Some of us seem able to ignore our feelings, while others feel controlled by them. But most of us would admit that we don't always know what to do with how we feel.

The Bible teaches us that our emotions are an indispensable part of what makes us human - and play a crucial role in our relationships with God and others. Exploring how God designed emotions for our good, this book show us how to properly engage with our emotions - even the more difficult ones like fear, anger, shame, guilt, and sorrow - so we can better understand what they reveal about our hears and handle them wisely in everyday moments.

Good & Angry: Letting Go of Anger, Irritation, Complaining and Bitterness

    by David Powlison

    Anger / Bitterness / Complaining

Good and Angry shows readers how anger is more than a problem to solve. Anger is our complex human response to what we perceive as wrong in a complex world, thus we must learn how to fruitfully and honestly deal with it.

Good and Angry examines God's desire for justice and His anger, which doesn't devolve into manipulation. Rather, God's anger is good and redemptive, and it causes Him to step into our world to make wrongs right, sending His own Son to die so we can be reconciled.

Good and Angry helps people who struggle with irritation, complaining, or bitterness explore how to respond constructively when life goes wrong.

    Overcoming Fear, Worry, and Anxiety

    by Elyse Fitzpatrick

    Anxiety / Fear / Worry

Fear and worry are surprisingly, common and paralyzing emotions for many women today. In fact, even those who have been Christians for years find themselves battling difficult and often overwhelming concerns - concerns about marital strife, rebellious children, problems in the workplace or at home, serious health issues, financial difficulties, and much more.

God knew worry would be a very real problem. He addresses the issue in the Bible many times, giving practical guidance that is the only true solution to our fears and worries. Women will find comfort and encouragement as they learn from the transparent, real-life examples of others who have struggled with anxiety, including the author herself.

    War of Words

    by Paul David Tripp

    Communication / Conflict

"Talk" seems so normal, so ordinary, so harmless. Yet there are few things we do that are more important. And underneath the normality of it all is a great struggle, a war of words that we fight every day.

Recognizing that words are powerful, Paul Tripp shows us how the gospel transforms the way we communicate. Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Word is the only hope for our words. In our war of words, He is the one who gives us the victory. Tripp directs us to a renewed reliance on our heavenly Father's abundant grace and a more Christ-honoring, people-benefiting life of talk.

    Good Mood, Bad Mood

    by Paul D. Hodges

    Depression / Bi-polar

Depression and bipolar disorder are two of the most common diagnoses made in medicine today. Good Mood, Bad Mood examines whether we are in an epidemic or if we have simply misdiagnosed common sadness as depression. Current research in the medical community seems ot indicate that the criteria we use to diagnose depression as resulted in an increased and incorrect labeling of common sadness as depression. While medical treatment is now the commonly accepted way to deal with pain and sadness, its promise has not been fulfilled. In Good Mood, Bad Mood, Dr. Charles Hodges offers and explanation to help the reader see the importance of sadness and the hope that God gives us in HIs Word.

    Gospel Treason

    by Brad Bigney

Idols / rooting out Heart Issues

Is it harder for you to change and grow as a Christian than it should be? Do you wonder what is holding you back? Have you ever considered that it might be idolatry?

Using real-life stories and examples, Brad Bigney's Gospel Treason: Betraying the Gospel with Hidden Idols shows us how the idols we might not even recognize can still have devastating effects in our lives. In this transparent, honest book, he helps us identify our idols, understand how they lead us to commit treason against the gospel - and finally repent of them and root them out forever by turning to the only One who can fill our every need.

    When Sinners Say "I Do"

    by Dave Harvey

    Marital issues

Marriage is the union of two people who arrive at the altar toting some surprisingly large luggage. Often it gets opened right there on the honeymoon, sometimes it waits for the week after. The Bible calls it sin and understanding its influence can make all the difference for a man and woman who are building a life together. When Sinners Say "I Do" is about encountering the life transforming power of the gospel in the unpredictable journey of marriage.

    The Enemy Within

    by Kris Lundgaard

    Sin Habits / Sanctification

How would you like to fight an enemy, who, just as you have him in the ropes, always evades the final blow? An enemy who hides just out reach, lulling you into a fall sense of security, until he drops from nowhere onto your back?

That's the advantage of indwelling sin - it lurks in an unsearchable fortress where you can't get to it. But if God has redeemed us from sin - and given us His Holy Spirit to sanctify us and give us strength against sin - why do we go on sinning?

Drawing from the two masterful works by English theologian John Own, Kris Lundgaard takes aim at the enemy within. He shares his discovery of hope, renewed love for Christ, and an approach to holiness by faith in Him.

    Trusting God

    by Jerry Bridges

    Suffering - past or present

Why is it easier to obey God than to trust Him?

Because obeying God makes sense to us. In most cases, His laws appear reasonable and wise, and even when we don't want to obey them, we usually concede that they are good for us. But the circumstances we find ourselves in often defy explanation. Before long, we begin to doubt God's concern for us or His control over our lives. We ask, "Why is God allowing this?" or "What have I done wrong?"

During such a time of adversity, Jerry Bridges began a thorough Bible study on the topic of God's sovereignty. What he learned changed his life, and in Trusting God he shares the fruit of that study. As you explore the scope of God's power over nations, nature, and even the details of your life, you'll find yourself trusting Him more completely - even when life hurts.

Putting Your Past In Its Place

    by Stephen Viars

    Unresolved Past

Lives grind to a halt when people don't know how to relate to their past. Some believe "the past is nothing" and attempt to suppress the brokenness again and again. Others miss out on renewal and change by making the past more important than their present and future. Neither approach moves people toward healing or hope.

Pastor and biblical counselor Stephen Viars introduces a third way to view one's personal history - by exploring the role of the past as God intended. Using Scripture to lead readers forward, Viars provides practical measures to

    • understand the important place "the past" is given in Scripture
    • replace guilt and despair with forgiveness and hope
    • turn failures into stepping stones for growth

This motivating, compassionate resource is for anyone ready to review and release the past so that God can transform their behaviors, relationships, and their ability to hope in a future.

    Weekend Services:

First off, we want to thank all the volunteers who have helped shift our services to online only. They have put in a ton of hours, effort, and creativity to allow us to gather virtually during this time. This past weekend, our services were in over 600 homes and viewed by many more people. To follow Governor Evers’ recent Safer at Home order, weekend services and mid-week events will continue to be virtual until further notice. Please stay tuned to our Thursday updates and the newsletter for the latest news.

    Facebook Sessions:

We have kicked off two Facebook Live events this past week and will continue them until further notice. On Mondays at noon, we will host a Facebook Live prayer time. On Tuesdays at 6:30pm, we will lead a Devotional time. Both will be led by staff and possibly some guest hosts. The sessions were a blast to host and created a great way to stay connected as a church family. Together, over 450 people viewed and interacted with these Facebook Live sessions. Mark them in your calendar and join us this week as we continue Monday Prayer at noon and Tuesday Devotional at 6:30pm. Click here for our Facebook page.

    Children’s Ministry:

Our Children’s Ministry has been extremely active through Facebook. If you haven’t already, please follow the Spring Kids Facebook page to stay engaged with all things Children’s Ministry. On the Facebook page, through our website, and regular emails your kids can continue to grow in their relationship with God. As a parent, you will also enjoy the updates and lessons given by our wonderful staff and volunteers involved in weekend services and Awana. More information can be found at the website also.

    Student Ministry:

Student Ministry has also been busy connecting online, primarily through their Instagram account. Please follow springlakestudents on Instagram and their website page for the latest. By connecting with Student Ministry, your students will continue to receive solid teaching geared towards them and relationally connect with peers and wonderful adult leaders. It’s also a great time to check out Student Ministry virtually as a parent or a student who has not attended a Wednesday Night yet.

    Offices:

To abide by Governor Evers’ Safer at Home Order, our offices will be closed starting Wednesday, March 25 until further notice. Please stay tuned to the weekly newsletter and video updates every Thursday for the latest response from Spring Lake Church.

    Financial Giving:

As you can imagine, those who regularly give during services have had their routines impacted. If you typically give while in a service, you can still continue to support Spring Lake online by clicking here or mail checks to the Bellevue Campus at 2240 Klondike Rd. Green Bay, WI 54311. Your generous gifts are greatly appreciated.

    Weekend Service:

We will be cancelling weekend gatherings until further notice, but we will keep you updated for when things start up again through the Newsletter and our Thursday updates.

We will be starting a new Sermon Series this weekend called “Reality Check.” Too often we have this strange idea that if God is at work, then nothing will go wrong. But many times, just the opposite is true! What you will hear this weekend is that even when God himself came to earth, there was a reality check of what the people expected.

    Life Groups:

Through this time, it is so important for us to stay connected. Unfortunately, the latest mandates have made it very challenging for us as Life Groups. But be encouraged! We will still be meeting as Life Groups through virtual options! All Life Group leaders have been contacted about options that are available so that we are able to continue in community with one another online. This will give groups the opportunity to connect and have some “face to face” time to study through the word together and pray together. If you have been on the fence about Life Groups or were planning to attend the Life Group Connect event that had to be cancelled, please know that there is still an opportunity to join a group! Outreach:

There are so many opportunities to be spreading hope during a time like this! One way that Spring Lake is doing that is through a partnership with St. John’s Homeless Shelter. Spring Lake Downtown is being used as an overflow shelter to help our neighbors in need. There are many opportunities to help, but please do not take action unless instructed by Spring Lake Church! It is very important to prevent any spread of sickness to our vulnerable population. There is a list of opportunities to help and more information at www.springlakechurch.org/outreach.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit!” Romans 15:13

    Dear Spring Lake Church Family,

With the wave of cancellations in the news, you may be wondering how the spread of Coronavirus might impact Spring Lake Church. At this time we have decided to cancel our in-person services for this upcoming weekend. The good news is we will be live-streaming our services on Sunday, March 15 at 9:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. on our Facebook Page and here on our website by clicking here. Pastor Jack Guerra will be concluding our series on the book of Acts along with a closing round table discussion with Pastors Ryan Groshek, Adam Jackson, and Bill Van Kirk.

In addition, Student Ministries will hold their midweek event online and AWANA is already canceled for spring break. Life Groups will continue to meet at the discretion of their Life Group leaders.

Throughout the week, we will monitor and consult experts to determine if future services will be impacted. If further cancellations are made, updates will be part of our weekly newsletter the Thursday prior to the weekend. Updates will also be on our website and our social media.

As a reminder, please remain, as you always have, faithful financially. If you normally give financially during services, please consider giving online during this season.

Click here to Give to Spring Lake Church.

Please join us in praying for families impacted by the spread of the Coronavirus worldwide.
